memories:

when i was in 7th grade, my english teacher stood up in front of the school during chapel time and made an announcement. "i regret to inform you that shel silverstein has died."

a hush washed over the room as people mulled over the name and decided they didn't care. i guess i decided that i had had enough of holding it back, and in the middle of this sea of silence, i yelled,

"NO!"

and proceeded to have no friends for the next three years.
