Marvin Zindler - The Best Little Anchorman in Texas

If you've ever watched the news in Houston (less so recently, but - ), you're familiar with Marvin Zindler. He was the hilariously boisterous vox populi on KTRK-TV, and had been for years.

Marvin Zindler!

Marvin was the heir to a lucrative clothing business owned by his dad, but chose to go to the way of the infotainment business. He first became known in 1973 as the man who broke the Chicken Ranch story (upon which the successful musical "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" was based, as well as the song "La Grange" by ZZ Top). A generation later, he was the "Slime in the Ice Machine!" guy, and if he showed up at our school cafeteria crowing over the staples found in the tapioca they served us at lunch, we were just glad that he was there. Whatever to the Rat and Roach Report, Marvin. We loved him.

I recently found out that Mr. Zindler was suffering from another bout of illness (after previously overcoming prostate cancer and heart bypass surgery). It was cancer again, but this time it was pancreatic, and it had spread to his liver.

Marvin Zindler died of his illness on July 29th. All of Houston will miss your clarion calls of "EEEEYEWITNESS NEWS!!!!!!!!!". We'll miss you Marvin; all of Texas will, and all of the world.
