Celebrity

I've been thinking about what the fuck is up with famous people. They all seem so damaged. I can imagine that after a while all the insanity that is the celebrity life might start to wear on a girl (or guy), especially when one has been living that life since childhood, like Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, or the Olsen twins. But it affects even the ones who haven't been famous for that long, or who aren't really that famous at all. It seems like they're waging a constant war with themselves: hey're attention-hungry because they've become dependent on the public for esteem, and yet they want to be left the fuck alone...because that's how a normal person would react. And yet, we're all taught from a young age that to be Special or Better is the most important thing in life. Whatever your claim to Specialness is, once you've got it, I can imagine that it would feel stupid to try to push it away.
The biggest mystery to me, however, is how you go from this...

to this.

How do you go from someone who idolizes her "mummy"...

to someone who thinks this is acceptable behavior in public?

Obviously part of the answer is plastic surgery and makeup...

(because that's a nose that hasn't been worked on, am I right?)

and some of it is just plain crazy.

Probably a little more of one than the other.

For those of you who would like to know more about the lovely Ms. Jodie Marsh, a short tour of her internet trail leads me to believe she was born in Essex, and lists her job description as Glamour Model...which seems to be the English euphemism for Porn Star. She also has a Myspace page.
