Can "patronize" really be used in that manner? I thought in the context of business it meant something like "to become a regular customer of" so it's not really the same as "to hit up."
I think it works if you used this definition: "to provide aid for, support".
ahh, I see...different dictionaries, (sligtly) different uses.
